Bartın

Bartin, located to the east of Zonguldak, is a Western Black Sea town, known for its old wooden houses and natural beauties. A boat tour on the Bartin Stream displays the beauties of the surroundings. A Strawberry Festival is organized every year in the town which is famous for its strawberries. The industrial city of Karabuk and Safranbolu, reminding one of a kind of open air museum with its historical houses, is located to the south of the town. Safranbolu, which has kept alive until today the original works of Turkish architecture, takes its name from the saffron plants which are grown in the surroundings. The architectural works are usually from the seventeenth century. The Cinci Hoca Bath and Inn, the Izzet Pasha Mosque and Library, the Koprulu Mosque, the Arasta and especially the wooden houses are the main places of interest.
