Eclipse 2006
The partial phases will be witnessed by all of Europe. All Asia west of Yakutsk, Mongolia, central China and Myanmar, and north of the line joining Bombay and Calcutta will see some of the Moon in front of the Sun. Also, only the southeastern parts of Africa will miss the partial eclipse.

After clearing Passport and Customs controls on your own, meet and transfer to the hotel. Free afternoon to rest. Free for Dinner, Overnight in Istanbul (New City). Incase you arrive on the 25th to Istanbul , your Istanbul tour will be offered at the end of the trip . You may select one of the Istanbul tours on your request… Day 02 – 25 March 2005 - Saturday A full day tour at the Old City where the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires were ruled. St.Sophia, one of the greatest marvels of architecture constructed as a basilica in 536 by Emperor Justinian (Closed on Mondays; replaced with a visit to the St. Chora Museum); Blue Mosque, facing St.Sophia, famous with its more than 20.000 blue Iznik tiles and unique with its 6 minarets, built in the name of Sultan Ahmet in the 17th century, one of the best examples of classical Turkish art; Hippodrome, the scene of Byzantine chariot races, athletic events, victory celebrations, and political activities of the old city where one can also see today the Obelisk from Egypt, Serpentine Column from Delphi, the Fountain of Wilhelm II and the Colossus; the marvelous Underground Cistern; After lunch proceed to Topkapi Palace - Harem section is excluded - (Closed on Tuesdays; replaced with a visit to the Archaeological Museum), built in 1468 by Mehmet the Conqueror, the imperial residence of Ottoman sultans housing the souvenirs of 600 years and exhibiting imperial treasury, Chinese porcelains, weapons, calligraphy section, etc.; Grand Covered Bazaar (Closed on Sundays), the most attractive shopping center in the world with nearly 4000 shops. By this we do offer a possibility to reduce the package costs…) Day 03 – 26 March 2005 - Sunday After early breakfast , transfer to the airport for your flight to Ankara (08:00). Pick up at the Ankara airport and start the city tour . In the morning visit to the world-wide famous Anatolian Civilizations Museum (It is closed on Mondays. If the guests commence the tour on Monday this museum is visited on the way back to Ankara unless they fly back from Kayseri or Nevsehir) also known as Hittite Museum and the Mausoleum of Ataturk, the burial place of the Turkish hero. Then departure for Cappadocia and lunch on the way. After a picturesque trip along the Salt Lake visit to the 13th century Seljukian Caravanserai Agzikarahan. Arrival to the Cappadocia region and overnight (B,D). Day 04 – 27 March 2005 – Monday After having breakfast in the hotel visit to the Pigeon Valley and Uchisar; then proceed to the Open Air Museum in Goreme through Avcilar Valley and visit to the early Christian churches decorated with unique frescoes depicting various scenes from the Bible. Lunch in a restaurant and then visit to Kaymakli Underground City, the place early Christians hid from persecutors. Pasabagý in Zelve region and Avanos with shopping facilities for the world-wide famous handicrafts. Overnight in Cappadocia (B,D). Day 05 – 28 March 2005 – Tuesday Early departure for Antalya. After visiting the Mausoleum of Mevlana, the world-wide famous mystic in Konya, proceed to Antalya, On arrival to your hotel have a briefing about the Eclipse and the location. Check equipments before dinner and overnight (B,D). Day 06 – 29 March 2005 – Wednesday Early breakfast and proceed to the watching area. We have selected a nice location where not much buildings are located. Lunch boxes to be prepared, Preparation for Eclipse , set up the infrastructure and electricity , make our selve ready for the eclipse. Full day in the Eclipse area, … Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight . (B,L,D). Day 07 – 30 March 2005 – Thursday Fullday visit of Antalya , visiting Aspendos, the best preserved amphitheatre in the world. Continue to Perge - originally settled by the Hittites around 1500 B.C. - with its great theatre, stadium, huge Hellenistic and Roman gates, and colonnaded street, then on to Antalya Museum and Harbour… Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight . (B,D). Day 08 – 31 March 2005 – Friday In the morning departure to Pamukkale. On the way visit the famous Aphrodisias antic site with its museum and ruins. Continue to the ancient Hierapolis with the Theatre, Apollo Temple and magnificent Necropolis, the graveyard. Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale area. (B,D). Day 09 – 01 April 2005 – Saturday Early departure to Kusadasi area and tour to Ephesus area with Ephesus Antique City (Hillside Houses are excluded), Virgin Mary’s House, and St. John Basilica. Overnight in Kusadasi (B,D). Day 10 – 02 April 2005 – Sunday Free day in Kusadasi for leisure . (B,D). Day 11 – 03 April 2005 – Monday Early departure for Bergama and visit to the Asclepion and Acropol with the well preserved remains. Lunch and drive to Assos for a short visit to the village. Overnight in a simple hotel in Canakkale or at a simple but cosy hotel in Assos.v(B,D). Day 12 – 04 April 2005 – Tuesday After breakfast drive to Troy, the place where the legendary Trojan War took place in the historical work of Homer of Smyrna. After visiting the site with nine inhabitation levels covering a period of 3000 years, drive to Canakkale and lunch. Thereafter sail to the other side of Dardanelles by a ferryboat and drive to Istanbul with visit to Gallipoli, historically famous for being the site of many battles - particularly involving the Allied Forces including Australians and New Zealanders during World War I. Arrival in Istanbul . Overnight in Istanbul (B, L). Day 13 – 05 April 2005 – Wednesday In the morning proceed to the pier to embark the boat. Starting the cruise from the Golden Horn and sailing through the waterway separating the two continents - Asia and Europe - with a possibility to take pictures of the marble palaces, ancient wooden villas of Ottoman architecture besides modern residentials. During the cruise Ciragan Palace, Dolmabahce Palace, Beylerbeyi Palace, Bosphorus and the bridges will be visioned. Leaving the boat around Tarabya and proceeding to the restaurant for lunch. Thereafter visit to the Rumelian Fortress, historical armament built by the Conqueror in 1452 to control and protect Bosphorus. After the visit to this unique example of military architecture cross to the Asian side to visit Camlica Hill to observe the panoramic view of Istanbul, and then tour the Beylerbeyi Palace, the summer residence of the Ottoman Sultans, with its original furniture and magnificent gardens (New City) (B).
